  • Visitor Visa Expiring in 4months

    Hi
My Mom's visitor visa is expiring in March. I need to reapply for a new visitor visa. What is the reason I could give ? She has visited here 4-5times in the last few years. Can I still specify sight seeing/going around the US as a reason for her application? She is in her late sixties. There are other siblings in India.

All we want is for her to visit during summers so she can spend sometime with family here.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Anjali

Not sight seeing. True purpose is Visiting children in US.

if you wish, you can delay the new application process to the end of 2012. If she can use the visa in March just before it expires. That way she can stay in US till August and apply for the new visa late in 2012.

      Expiring Visitor Visa

Thank You for your tme. I didnt know that she can come on a visa thats going to expire and stay longer than the expiry date. But if the immigration officer questions and tries to grant only for a month, that will be too tiring for her to take such a short trip.

Is it true that she will get to stay till Aug even though visa is expiring Mar 2012?

Visa expiry date is only for entry and not for stay and duration of the stay is determined by the officer as long as you mom enter before visa expiry.

I have heard people entering one week before visa expiry and go to stay for 6 months..

Your mom can request that she will need to stay for 4 or 6 months ..
