  • Disabled Mother-In-Law

Hoping someone out there can help me. I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I have a mother-in-law who wants to visit me and her daughter here in the USA. She is Brazilian and completely illiterate and would really find life easier traveling if her daughter (my wifes sister) accompanied her.
    1. Could the daughter be waivered becuase of the diablility?
    2. Would the disability cause the US to not issue her a Visa?

I have read about disabilities causing USA denials. She is quite capable of taking care of herself and speaks Portugues well but reading and writing is a problem. The mother has strong ties to Brazil. The sister is 20 and has very little to show strong ties to Brazil other than her familiy and occasional work.

    Thank you

She is illiterate and cannot read or write in her own language or English

That is not a disability. She can request for an interpreter.

Your wife's sister would have to qualify for her visa on her own. She has extremly low chances of getting visa, if any.
