Query on different name in passport

Hi,

I am planning to initiate Visitor visa for my parents. My Mother recently received her passport and her passport name was given as the one that is present in her 10th class. But my passport contains different name which she currently uses. There is change in both the first and last names when i compare with my mother's passport. Should i change the name in my mother's passport or will an affidavit suffice that my mother's name changed after marriage.

Please specify the circumstances for different name usage?

Did she adopt your father's last name after marriage?
Is she being referred to by different first name, because your father's family didn't like her maiden first name?

In my mother's passport her first name was printed as Uma. Even in my father's passport in Spouse section it is displayed as Uma. But in my passport her first name is listed as Uma devi.
In her 10th class certificate her name was listed as Uma. So, the same got reflected in my parents passport.

since there is change in my mother's first name when i compare with my passport should i submit for new passport with name change or will the affidavit suffice.

Uma and Uma Devi are practically the same name. Consulate officers understand that very well.

Get an affidavit.

While submitting the I-134 form which name should i use ..is it Uma or Uma devi
