Surname field limit in D160 (only 33 characters allowed)

Do you know what to do when surname in passport has more characters than the allowed ones (only 33 characters) in D160?

My in-law has 35 characters in his surname but D160 only allows to enter 33 character. Do you know how I can complete D160?

D160 says to fill in the surname/givenname as is in the passport.

Do D160 have any 'CONTINUATION SHEET' so that we can write 'ON CONTINUATION SHEET' in the main D160 and write the full name in the CONTINUATION sheet?

One of my friend told that -
For most US forms they allow a continuation sheet if you don’t have enough room. What I did for my wife’s green card application (her mother’s full name did not fit) was write “ON CONTINUATION SHEET” on the actual form, then on a separate page I wrote all the things that didn’t fit along with what line number they are for.
