  • Can parents provide financial support in Self-Sponsored Visa

    Hello dear Friends,
I'm going to apply for B2 visitor visa to see some of my friends in USA and to see places. I need serious help here related to sponsorship.

I've an Internet friend (US Native) who's ready to sponsor me however I understand "internet friend" is highly unnatural so I'm not going to avail this sponsorship, neither will mention about him at all.

As I do not have any relative in USA, I need to self sponsor my stay. I've about $40,000 in my bank account which is way beyond what that is considered a baseline.
I'm 23, I left my job a year ago to prepare for MBA and not working at the moment so I do not have latest tax returns. I'm dependent on my parents so I want to ask if my father (living with me here in India) can aid me in self sponsorship option? He has all the latest tax returns and all that is required.

If yes, what documentation will I need?
If no, what are my options?

In addition to this, I've all the property documents and everything that is required to show I've no intentions to stay in the US other than my intended visit.

Experts please detail me about this I'm extremely worried even though I haven't filed my application yet.

First of all, do not worry about the documents. In most cases they don't even look at them.
They will decide on the basis of your answers to what they will ask.

    They will ask on two issues;
    1) Your ties to home country to make sure you will return .
For young, single people that is the most important as they are the most suspect not to return.
Ties are a well paying ongoing job/ business or a proper student status . You do not have either of them.

2)Purpose and fInancing of the trip
Yes, you can say that your parents are financing the trip for a vacation.

You satisfy the financing part but not the ties part.
I strongly advise you not to apply in this situation . First take up a proper job or become a student
or show self-employment for some time and then apply. You cannot say you are preparing for MBA and expect them to give you a visa for a vacation.

Thank you for your reply dear. hmmmm at least I'm relieved that I fulfil the financing part through my parents. okay let me work on the options for student, or a job. Thank you so much If I show them an employment for while or so but will I still need my own bank statements when my parents are financing the trip?

Casual Employment for a while won't work.
In 5 minutes , they will grill you about your long term goals, why you are going to US all alone , When you have never vacationed in a foreign country before, why US?

If your purpose is to visit purely, give it a lot more time and plan it properly. It is not easy to get a visitor visa. ( If you plan to work or settle down in US, donot take the visitor route) Work/study in India for at least a year with clear cut goals,
make visits to neigboring countries like singapore, dubai , thailand and then apply with your family or friends to go on a 4 week vacation to North AMerica with a package.
