Hello Immihelp!
My in-laws got the appointment in Chennai on June 13 and I've the following questions:
1) My father-in-law is a Govt. employee in A.P and he has taken a NOC for applying his passport. According to the Visitor's documents section, " a NOC or letter and leave sanctioned letter is required if the applicant is a Govt. Employee or with Armed Forces" Will the NOC that he got for his passport be sufficient for VISA also (it was mentioned that the NOC was for applying passport only when issued) ?
2) How latest shud the Sponsor's documents (Employment verification letter, bank letter, sponsor letter, etc.) from the Sponsor be, 1 - 2 months old or 2 weeks old ?
3) How long does it take for the Courier to reach (Hyd) if the documents are sent that way ?
4) If there was any mistake (or a typo) in the details that were given while taking appointment (like typo in Address, name, etc.) over the Web, will it be possible to get them changed on the appointment day ? (I remember to have read some1's experience like this where they had to make slight changes to their address in India)
5) What is the minimum balance that my in-law should have in his bank account over the last 6 months or so before the appointment date ?
6) If the male applicant is over 45 years, he doesn't have to fill up DS-157. Is this true ?
7) If my mother-in-law can't read/write/speak English; can my father-in-law fill out the DS-156 for her and sign where it says "this was prepared by" ?
8) How important are the marriage certificate of my in-laws and birth certificates of their children if they were married some 30 yrs ago (and no 1 cared about the marriage certificates then!) and kids were born in the village (and birth certificates are not issued by the registrar!) ?
Appreciate if all the questions are answered and thanks a lot in advance!
