  • vistor visa interview+full fingerprinting(dad)=courier/in-person?

    My parents had interview for visitor visa on 17th May in Delhi. The visa officer gave back passport and issuance visa fees back to my parents and asked my father specifically to take fingerprint($85, mother didn't need fingerprints). They said they will notify my parents once they get all clear from the fingerprint. The question I have is do my parents have to go back to Delhi for stamping or can they go to Chennai (Nearer to my home) or better can they courier their passports to Delhi now that their interview is over?.

    were they given any letter stating reasons etc

    were they given any letter stating reasons etc like a letter stating that embassy needs time to do processing etc and will contact them?

    Mostly when visa is not given they hand over a letter either u/s 214 b or 221 g?

    Did your family recieve any of those?

    This was at Delhi consulate,right?

        You can't apply from New Delhi as your parents already got rejected in Chennai before.

          Thanks for the replies sent.

          The letter they recieved was something like the following :

          Dear Applicant

          We are unable to issue your visa at this time. Your application is incomplete or requires further processing. You have been found ineligible to recieve a visa under Section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. The information contained in the paragrraphs mated with "X" pertain to your VISA application. Please disregard the unmarked paragraphs.

          - Please come in person for fingerprints- when requested by consular officer.....{The fingerprints have been taken - cost $85}

          Please Note the following if the tick boxes are marked :

          - Your application requires additional administrative processing before a a final decision can be made. The office will contact you once this administrative processing has been completed.

          Footnote : Please bring this letter in your next interview

          • Does this letter indicate an outright rejection? In that case I could reschedule an interview!
          • If no, then how many days will it take if they agree for the issuance of the VISA?

          TIA

              The boxes ticked were :

              1) Come get the fingerprints {already done}
              2) Your application requires additional administrative ... {as indicated in my post}

              My question is :
              1) Approx how much time does it take to get the fingerprint clearance in cases like these?
              2) Do my parents have to go to Delhi to get their passports stamped?
              or they can do that from Chennai itself?

              Thanks Very Much

                1. Difficult to say. Timings vary. Just wait for them to respond back. But I would say 2 to 6 weeks.

                2. Delhi.
