  • Visitor visa for niece - 12 yrs old

    Hi there,
i would like to invite my niece who is 12 yrs old with my parents in this summer. My parents have 10 yrs visa and they visited USA many times. They are planning to come here in summer and my niece will also have a summer vacation so she can join with them.
How do we proceed with my niece's visa?
Also can my parents(her grandparents) or I (my husband) sponser her? I can send them my husband's companys paperwork.
Which sp. documents we need to prepare and does anyone allow with her while visa interview as she is a minor?
Can anyone please help in this matter?
    Thank you.

Thank you Immihelp for your reply.
can you please let me know that does anyone allow with her while visa interview as she is just 12 yrs old?
which kind of questions do we expect for her?
which proof documents we need to show that she is okay to go with her grandparents and her parents have no concern for that?
      thanks again.

US embassy requires that both parents ( or one parent with the written consent of the other)
be present with the child for the interview.

In this case, if your sis has a vaild visa, she and niece can appear for the interview with a no objection letter from niece's father.
Your sis can show she and her daughter want to spend the vacation in US .She must carry a letter from t he school showing enrolment and vacation.
If your sis and her husband have good income , your sis can show they are spending for the trip and you need to send only an invitation letter ( no sponsorship documents). That will increase the chances. Your sis must carry proof showing employment , business , IT returns.
          .

Ok, if your husband earns $40-50k + per year, he can sponsor.
Your sis can take her husband's no objection letter.
              ( Confirm by calling VFS)
The stay requested by your sis + niece should match the vacation period on the school letter.

                thank you for your reply.
yes my husband can sponsor them.
Is it okay if my sister's husband also go with them for his presence to consulate (he is not applying for his visa) with them as his daughter is a minor (12 yrs old) ??
Also, my sister hired travel agent to fill the application and to help the paperwork. is it okay if travel agent writes his name and details on the DS160 who filled the application field? does that impact on application?

I am very much thank to you for your great help.

If he can go, he should go.

Is your sister educated and can she use a computer? If she can, she should sit with the travel agent and under his guidance , do it herself and let her name be on the field. That way she will know what has exactly been filled up on the screen and she can answer any relevant questions at the interview properly.

                      hi there,
can you please help us out for following.

Since my niece is a minor and her mom is also applying for visa with her. Who will be the primary applicant? I read online that each person applying visa is a primary applicant. Is that true?
and how do we submit the DS160 for both of them together and schedule appointment for them in one time slot?

also, on DS160, there is a question: who is travelling with you? shall we write each other's (my niece and my sister's) information on vice-versa form???
                      thanks for your BIG help

Your sister will be become primary applicant. First fill your sister DS form and after submission, select family applicant and submit your niece application. While taking appointment, there will be an option to select family based appointment and you need to provide their respective CEAC numbers for appointments.

Yes write each other's name in their DS forms.

I found following to submit for mumbai appointment.

Application packet to be submitted to VFS:

Copy of the first and last page of your current valid passport. If you have any observations on your passport please submit a copy of the observation page also. You are recommended to have passport valid for travel for at least six months beyond your date of entry into the U.S.
                              One photograph as per specification
                              DS-160 Confirmation Barcode printout.
Two copies of original interview appointment letter.
Applicants applying for the visa in order to travel with their employer as a Domestic worker must submit a copy of the contract between them and the employer and the employers’ visa and passport copy.
Applicants joining their husband / parent on board a ship need a letter from the shipping company and the principal’s visa copy.
Visa renewal applicants must submit a copy of the previous expired U.S. visa stamped on their passport.

                              Also,
how long it takes to activate HDFC draft to book an appointment?
Does it count Sunday and public holiday??
