  • Mistake in DS-160 (submitted) - Interview in 4 days!!!

    Hi everyone,

Hope someone will suggest/help me with my situation:

My parents are self-sponsoring for US Visitors visa and have the interview on Feb 10th. All the paper work is done but, my dad accidentally wrote that the person paying for his trip is me (his daughter). I haven't sent any bank statements regarding this.

    My questions are:

    1) Since the DS-160 form is already submitted, how do we fix this problem (preferably not having to cancel the interview date?)

    2) Will this effect the chances of getting their visa approved?

    3) Since i'm not sponsoring for their trip do I still have to submit affidavit of support (which I actually did along with all other documents from my side; except bank statements of course!)

Anyone in the same or similar situation? with suggestions or solutions? Please help me!
    Any help is highly appreciated!!!

    Thank you,
    Priya S

      Call/Email the consulate

I believe you should be able to call / email the consulate about this issue. In the meanwhile, send the bank statements for the last 3-4 months; which is just a matter of pulling off the PDFs off the online account. Also, try to get your pay stubs for the last 3-4 months and share them with your parents & ask them to take hard copies of them as well. If possible, fill I-134 and share a scanned copy of the same as well; to avoid any other issues. You could give a call to your bank "branch" - say BofA / Wells Fargo; which ever it is.. not the customer care; ask them to produce a consular reference letter; and mention that this is for only support of a visitor application and send you one by Fax / soft copy by email. They also do overnight which costs some 20$. I would try that as well.

I would advice to ask your parents to carry their support documents also. Ask your parents to be honest and mention that - we did not realize that we made the mistake; till we proof read the DS-160. That's why we have all of these documents.

      Good Luck!!
