  • Misspelling in parents passport

    Dear All,

I would like to invite my parents to US on B2-visa. Both of my parents of Indian passports. But the problem is one character is misspelled in their last name in comparison to what is in my passport and other documents. For example, my parents last name mentioned in my passport is "Mukherjee" and in their passport it is spelled as "Mukharjee". Now, I wonder if they have to get it corrected to apply for VISA interview or there any other ways to get around with this issue. I am completely lost and literally confused to whom to ask and where to find this information. I really appreciate any kind of help.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Srini

    Misspelling in parents passport

Which one is correct? Though it seems very small but better get it corrected. For B2 your parents would have to show some property documents, bank accounts, pay slip (in case they are working) etc. the Name/spelling that appears in these documents should be the one on your passport and their passport. Whichever document is incorrect get it corrected and then apply for B2, if it is your passport that needs correction get it corrected. This is my opinion. Please do seek expert guidance too.

      Thank you

      Hello Raghvi,

Thanks for the info. My parents last name in my passport is correct and in their passport it is mentioned wrong. Do you by chance know what is the exact procedure to get the names corrected.

      Best,
      Sri
