  • Second time B2 rejection at Mumbai

    Hi,
First my Mom-in-law went alone at mumbai consulate for B2 visa interview in Dec 2011. She is a govt. servant still in service and went prepared with all documents including NOC, sponsor docs etc. She was rejected with no specific reason given except for the fact that she was asked why her husband didn't join her and since he didn't get his passport at that time and had to take care of his mother, she said he would be joining later.

The second time, they went as a couple, by luck, they got the same consular officer who fwded their case to another officer. She again asked about the fact of my father-in-law's mother and he told them that she has moved to his brother as her condition as stabilized and he should be back in just one month.

This time again, their visa was refused without any reason provided. What would the forum members advise, apply again if so how soon and what more documentation should they carry (even though none of the docs were looked at in the past)? Should I mail them some documents from my end (letter to consulate etc.)? Its quite frustrating.

If you guys go immed, that will show your desperation. I would say you should try your luck atleast after 180 days or would be ideal this year end or early next year.

Letter to consulate, Invitation letter are required but as evident in your case, they don't actually see those documents. Good to have. I think VO is checking family ties of your in-laws back in India, how many kids they have and where are they?

Thanks for your reply. They have one son who is married and settled in India. Also, the mom-in-law is a govt. servant and that means she needs to get back.
