  • Visitor Visa Documents Question

My parents have an interview next week and we sent them all the documents.
We sent two copies of affidavit of support and ofcourse the DS156 applications - one for my father one for my mother. The Immihelp site mentions that 2 originals of the employment letter and bank statement needs to be sent (one for each of them ). Different people say different things about this.Is this really necessary as they are both attending the same interview ? How important is this and Would copies suffice for these documents?

    Thanks,

    Ram

As far as I know only 134 needs to be made separately.

Other docs such as employment letter, bank st. - only one set is sfficient.

I read it online that one set is enough for both parents appearing together.

My in-laws went for visa interview on 5/18/05 and i had sent only one affidavit of support and one set of documents. These are documents i had put in the file

      1) photocopies of 2 months payslips
      2) 3 months bank statements,
      3) original letter from bank stating when the account was opened, current balance in the account and average balance for the last 3 months.
      4) letter to the Consulate requesting for the visitor visa
      5) invitation letter
      6) stocks/bonds balance
      7) home mortgage statement showing the equity on the home.

apart from this i asked my in-laws to take all their saving account passbooks, receipts and pension letters. they filled the DS-156 form for each applicant.

It does not say anywhere that you have to send 2 sets of originals for bank statements. One set is enough.

I-134 should be one per person.

Things like employment letter and bank letter are preferred one per person, but it may be fine if you get one for both persons. It depends upon the consular officer whether it would be ok or not. Many times, it is OK but sometimes, it may not be. Why take chances?

hello. I was exploring to invite my mother to usa. I'm Perm. Resident here. I was concerned about disclosing my salary and stuff to family.

          a) Could I write a letter of invitation, that doesn't mention, my salary ?
          b) Could I only send my financials to the Consulate and not to family ?
