  • How much funds requirement for 10 day visit under B-2?

This is a different sort of B-2 query.
The concerned person is an Indian citizen living in India, about 60 years old. He intends to spend 10 to 15 days in the US, partly visiting distant relatives and partly traveling around the US. How much funds should he show for this trip? He will be showing his own funding and will not be getting sponsorship from his relatives in the US.

I am sorry, if you are thinking, showing enough bank balance for 15 days will suffice, it does not work that way.
His work status and income are the deciding factors.

*Is he retired or is he working?
*What is his income range roughly?
*Another thing; 10-15 days for a pleasure trip is too less.

Thanks, I knew there was some catch.
To sum up his situation-recently retired, good savings but relatively lower income 2-3 lakhs annual.
However, his son works for an Indian IT company in India and earns over 10 lakhs. Would an affidavit from the son help? The son's income tax returns etc would be furnished.

        A few more qs;

        what about his wife?
Who is the closest distant relative in US? what is the relation?
Has the applicant travelled before to any other countries?

          A bit complicated

          Thanks, Peace
The relative is a cousin who is in the US for a long time.
Wife and son are not keen on such a short trip, so they will not come this time.
The main person was in the US on student visa and H-1 in the late 80s and returned to India after some time on H-1. Has also been the UK and Singapore as a tourist for short trips in the last few years.

OK. he can say he wishes to visit his first cousin and do some sight seeing. ( should get an invitation letter from his cousin). But he must raise his duration to one month. !0-15 days is too short and will raise suspicion.
His previous travel history will work in his favour but the only worrying part is the funding part.
He can say he has enough savings ( should not show son's financing; that is not right) but sometimes they want to see good income even with retired people.
