Getting the appointment date after filling the DS 160

Hi,
I had started a thread a couple of weeks back about my parent who are planning to visit the US.
I had a question about getting the HDFC slip and getting the appointment date from the website.

I wanted an interview date in mid April. 15-20th or somewhere close to that. Is there a limit to how much before that date it becomes available on the VFS website.

Will those dates become available a month before, a couple of weeks or is there no limit and I can get them now. Also, how long before the date is a safe time to select one before there is a danger of the slots being filled.

You should keep an eye from Mar last week and most likely you should get the date you are
looking in/after Apr first week. Good luck.

So is there no rush to get the HDFC slip and keep checking straight away?

I've been putting it off for a while because its not close to where I live.. I'll get it in the first week of March and check from mid march onwards. Hopefully there wont be a problem.
