  • Can I submit DS-160 on my parent's behalf?

    Hello,

Thanks a lot for putting such an informative website. It is very helpful. I have a question for you. I am in USA and I wish to apply for visitor's visa for my parents. Can I submit DS-160 on their behalf? The DS-160 instructions (before beginning the form) say the following on the US embassy web site:

"Can Other People Assist Me with my Visa Application?
Yes, you can get assistance from other people. Be aware, however, that under U.S. law (22 C.F.R. 41.103) you must electronically sign and submit your own application unless you qualify for an exemption. This means that you (the applicant) must click the "Sign Application" button, even if someone else helped you fill the application out. If someone else clicks the button instead of you, your application may not be accepted.

In this case, can I fill the application completely on their behalf? When the applicant is asked to sign and submit the application, what do I do? shall I put my name and submit the application as someone who prepared the application? Will the application be accepted?

Please do advise me upon this issue. I wish to take visa date as soon as possible. Thanks again for your time and consideration. Anticipating your response.

    Sincerely,
    G.K.Shevtekar.

Yes, You can submit on your parents behalf.
I did the same for both. All you need to do is to give your details at the last section of the DS-160 form, which will certify that you have electronically signed it.

**Note (may be help full), when you form will complete, you will have option to view application before printing final Bar code, Please take print of entire form. This will help you preparing your parents for Interview.

    Regards,
    Rupesh
