  • To Apply or not to apply? ?

    Hello.

I found this website helpful first of all.

I wanted to ask a few questions. I want to go visit my brother to the states. He is actually working there, and is on the path to settlement legally and officially. Nothing illegal. I have studied in UK for four years, and have come back to my family in east africa. I have just started work here in a school. the school is closing for its annual holiday, as based on Indian system. I want to go visit my brother for 3-4 weeks as this is the only leave i will get from school. and also I have not seen my brother for 6 years. The school will write me a employment letter to the visa officer stating im working there, and i will be coming back to join the next academic year. In the past my family members have visited USA and have come back, my uncle also has a green card. My dad too has been to the states long ago, and has returned from the trip. even though I work, my dad will be sponsoring for my travel ticket. my brother is willingly wanting to sponsor me, and take full responsibility while i am there.

Do you think I should apply?

If you had some years work history in that school on a permanent job and a decent salary, so
you could show self financing, your case would have been stronger.

At this stage, you have just joined work and you are showing your dad's financing. That shows to the officer that you are not earning enough to finance your own trip. On top of that if you are single , there are really no strong ties to your home country that you are showing to the officer
and he may think you won't come back.

      True I agree with you.

I have been here for the past 2 years now. I have worked temporary in many places, and have collected enough funds, just that I havent opened a bank account as off yet.

On account of the being single case, If thats the case, I have travelled to UK in 2004, for 2 weeks summer, and come back. then I have had four years student visa and I came back 3 months before my visa expired, due to my mother being ill and taking care of her. I am a designer here, and I have my own label (Part time job). I could have got married in UK and claimed to be a citizen by now, but I abided by the rules.

So this is a plus point in my passport. But then also not sure if they still can deny.
