I made this to share with you my experience in applying for the B1/B2 visafor you to be encouraged that you can do it also like me. I was doing my research to get tips on how to better answer the Consulduring my interview and what should I bring to get the Visa. I read blogsand tips that sometimes I get discouraged because I don’t have some of themost required documents like financial capacity to support the travel, landtitles etc. Then I told myself, even if I don’t have all these documents, all I will do is just be honest with myself and to the Consul, do the bestthat I can do during the interview and leave everything to God, at least Itried. The day of my interview came. I chose the 8:30 am schedule so Iwas already at the US Embassy in Manila by 7:30 am. As the sun is gettinghotter, the people queueing were increasing too.I didn't feel anynervousness or even what they called butterflies on stomach though i thinki have diarrhea that day, too bad and wrong timing. I did not have enoughsleep coz i keep on practicing the answer that the consul may ask. and waspraying all night for guidance from God. If it is His will that I shalltravel to the US, thank you, if not, then so be it. The guy outside asked for my appointment paper and bank receipt.Me and my kids passed by the scanner . After all the security check, weheaded to the office. While waiting, i tried tobe relax, kept mycomposure because this will affect my interview if the Consul will see meshaking and nervous, I might get denied without any word at all.this is what happened during the interview:ME: Good morning! ( with a sweet smile) you are very good in speakingtagalog. (i heard him interviewing someone before me)VO: smiledVO: Who are you with?ME: this is my son and this is my daughter (pointing to my kids)VO: What will you do in the U.S.?ME: to visit my mom in new jerseyVO: Wha do you do?ME: Im a business womanVO: What kind of businessME: its a salonVO: Where?ME: It's in >>>>>>VO: is it located at the mall?ME: No, just in the cityVO: how many kids do you haveME: 4VO: then why you only applying for the 2?ME: because the youngest just turned 1 y.o. and it will be difficult for meto bring him for travel and the other son i have has a commitment thissummer for taekwando competitionVO: you will not watch it?ME: definitely ill watch. competition will be on MAY, and im planning toleave 1st week of april . whole month of april he has practiceVO: Where is your husband?ME: he is working in dubaiVO:how much is his salaryME: i answeredVO: How much is your grossME: I AnsweredVO: How much is your net? how many staff do you have?ME:i answeredVO: you have a good income so why does your husband have to work abroad?ME: Business has its ups and downs, you cant tell until when the businesswill last specially with the kind of business i have that there are manycompetitors. so he needs to work to help me for the education of my kids.VO: let me see the birth certificate of the kidsVO:then he checkedVO: Ok your visa is approved. please wait 2 -3 days for your passports.ME: oh thank you so much sir! (i cant hide the joy i felt )i bring all with me all the necessary documents he may asked. financialstatements, business permit, Income tax return etc. and he only asked forthe b.c. of kids.i dont think all consulates are bad. maybe few yes but as what i haveobserved from the moment i entered the embassy until i finished, every oneare accomodating and very nice specially the consul! thank you so much tohim i think those people who want to try their luck, all they need isconfidence and answer only what is asked and answer it truthfully. anyway, they will not ask you questions which you cannot answer bec. everythingthey will ask is all about you. After 3 days, my passport arrived and guess what, me and my kids got a1o years multiple entry B1/B2 US visa. Lessons from the interview: 1) Be transparent. As what I have said, the Consuls are individualswho have years of experience and extensive trainings in their chosen field. 2) Be honest as much as possible. If you lie, tendency is you willforget what you have written in the application form and will blow thechance of getting the visa. Whatever way the Consul will interrogate you,if you are honest with your answers, you will still give the same reply. 3) Be yourself. 4) Relax and be confident with all your answers. Never makeunnecessary movements like twirling your hair or worse, bite your nails (assome unconsciously do) or make facial expressions that will distract theConsul. 5) Get as much information needed like the place you want to visit, jot down possible questions the Consul might ask you. If possible, practise in front of a mirror or with a friend. 6) One question, one answer. Don’t give too much information otherthan what is asked. Keep the talkative side of you behind for a while asthis may get you into trouble than good. 7) Have your presence of mind, stay focused and be attentive tothe questions asked. 8) Have an eye contact. 9) Have faith in yourself. 10) Have faith in God. 11) As per my observation, the Consuls really don’t care of yourfinancial status, what they care about is your strong ties to your countryor work. That you have the intentions of going back to your country andNOT stay in the US as an illegal alien. 12) Being granted a visa is not because of the mood of the Consulduring the interview as how we see it when things went wrong and is deniedof the opportunity . It is but by how you confidently answer and assuresthe Consul of your honest intentions as a tourist.I was expecting a single entry but God gave me more than what I have askedfor. Everything is according to His great plan and in His time, not ours.Goodluck to all of you!!!
