  • Visitors Visa for my parents - Mumbai Consulate

    Hi,

My Parents interview is scheduled for 15th March at Mumbai consulate. The situation is that I and my husband both are on H1b visa right now and I am sponsoring my parents.
    1) My husbands Visa expires on 15th April and his company has filed for an extenstion whose approval we are still waiting for. Will that be an issue or a question that may come up for my parents even though I am sponsoring my parents. All the sponsor support documents are sent from me. We have some investments jointly as well and bought house as well. Should we be including my husband's payslip/employment letter etc?
    2) Because, I am sponsoring my Parents I have already sent I-134 to them. Do I have to send it to the consulate or my parents will have to show it if asked during the interview.
    3) I also have a younger unmarried sister in India whose Visa we arent applying at this moment. How can my Parents show their intention of returning back to India becase of thei reason.
    4) Last year, I had received 221g yellow form (administrative processing) and was stuck in India for 4 months. I changed my Job after I came back in few months and got my H1 transferred (my earlier job was a part time job with a small company and currently I am full time). Will my past status create any issue for my Parents applying for Visitor's Visa.
    5) Any other important point that I should consider for my Parents interview next week.

    1. Doesnt matter. Even if they ask about your husband show his valid i94 which is valid till 15th April. No need to carry his documents as you are sponsoring but better send his passport copy/i94 so worst case if they ask about him (which they wont) they can show. 90% of the time they wont ask any documents.
    2. I-134 you have to send to your parents and they need to take it to consulate.
    3. Yes tell them to try to mention this some where when they get a chance that they have a dependent daughter staying with them. If they ask ..fine ..else when they get a oppurtunity mention this. This is a good reason to show that they have no intension to stay back.
    4. I dont think it will create. If you are legally staying in US then you are fine.
    5. They ask most of the questions based on DS 160. So fill that properly. If they have a job or any form of income and some property to show then I am sure they will get the visa.
