  • Visitor visa rejected twice for widow mother-in-law

Hi, My mother-in-law visa got rejected twice in 2 months in chennai. Questions for first time.
    1. Where are you going? Chicago, IL
    2. Who lives there? My daughter and son-in-law
    3. How many children do you have? 2 daughters
    4. One children in US, where is the second child? in india
    5. What is your occupation? Agriculture
    6. How much land do you have? 2.5 acres
    7. What is your husband doing? He is no more.

VO replied back saying that property is not enough and Visa is rejected and gave 214 b.

So i prepared CA report with all property valuation and got affidavit from notary public and went for second time. This time they asked following questions.

    1. Where are you going? Chicago, IL
    2. Who lives there? My daughter and son-in-law
    3. How much is the duration of stay? 6 months
    4. How much is your income? 3 lacs from Agri and 2.40 lacs from house rent
    5. Do you have a own house? Yes. Also i have agriculture land.
    6. What is your husband doing? He is no more.

This time no reason was given. Simply rejected and got 214 b again.

Please share your thoughts how to approach next time. Do letters from senator and congress man will help? Or do i need to fax letter to consulate? I applied with my L1 earlier. My wife is going to get her H1 soon, so applying with her visa will help?

    Thanks in advance

    Widows usually have problems.

She should not have said 6 months in the 2nd interview. That is a lot for a visit. And that is the limit of stay they allow in one visit . It shows that she does not have a reason to return to India soon.

In your sister married or not ? is she living with your mother ? what does she do?
She can act as a strong tie in India for your mother to return.

Do not fax or send anything to consulate. They will trash it. H1 won't make any difference. Personally, letter from a congressman just for a visitor visa does not seem right to me.
    Shows desperation.
