  • criteria for sponser

    Hello..

I want to apply visitor’s visa for my mom. I have few doubts in the process.

    1) I am an IT professional .I have come here on L1 visa. Its been just 1week since i came here to US. Can i sponsor my mom n invite her to US n apply visa for her immediately.

    2) I have got one brother. He is also likely to move to US in the near future and he is also holding L1 visa. Will this affect the visa processing by any ways?

    3) Myself and my brother had been to US twice earlier in L1 visa.

    3) She is not holding any property in her name. She is getting pension of Rs.5000/month.
    Her husband is no more.

    Pls help me with this.

I do not mean to dishearten you but the reality is her chances are almost nil.

Widows anyways have difficulty getting visitor visas.

The ones who are successful have strong income /job / business ties to India or have another child in India.

Both the sons in US , widow with a meagre pension in India, the officer will think she will never return to India, so no visitor visa.

What is her educational background? Is she into religion? She is retired, but can she work part time?
One may think of other visa categories.

      Thank you for the reply.

She is not well educated. So she cant work.
And she is not in any religion too.

Is there any other way by which we can get visa for her.?

Her husband was holding few property. He is no more. So we are planning to do name transfer , ie.. all properties will come to her.

In that scenario , could we apply self sponsored visa for her.

If the self sponsored visa is possible.

how much sum of amount should she have in her bank account.
What are all other things she should possess.
      What’s the procedure for that?

Self sponsored visa is possible if she can show strong income or large savings. Strong income ( 60k - 1L ) being not possible, if she can show large savings ( 20L +)by selling off one of her properties , it may work .

But I donot advise selling property because

In this case lack of family or work ties will be the major issue rather than funding and sponsorship.

Other than that , there are only two ways in theory to get her to US. Both are immigrant visas.

        1. EB-5 investor visa; Invest $ 500k on her behalf in US.
        2. Sponsor her for immediate relative immigration if or when either of you bros becomes a US citizen.

          Nill Chance

You have to be realistic on this one, A US sponcer needs to earn at least 55k USD to sucessfully sponcer a parent, if you are self sponcering you should hold high value properties in your name have a good income as per ITR and have sufficent bank balance typically 2 lacs per month of stay,
For Widows it becomes even more difficult as in absence of a spouce there are no strong ties to the home country as per VOs

Since in all the criteria your mother is negative, Realistically she has absolutely no chance
