  • Don't remember previous US visa details

    Hello all,

I've somewhat of a specific question that I was hoping people will be able to help me with.

My parents are applying for a Visitor's visa (B-2). They have to of course declare their previous US visas on the DS-160. My parents applied for and were approved for a Visitor's visa in 1985. They finally decided not to travel to the US. However, this was when they were stationed abroad and were on an official govt. passport. They had to surrender the passport once they returned and now have no documentation for the passport or the visa (especially since this was 27 years back).

On the DS-160, if they choose to declare that they did apply for a US visa previously, they need to enter details that they don't have (date of visa, etc.) Without those details the form doesn't let them go ahead. The only way they can get around it is if they say they did not apply for a visa but this of course is a misrepresentation of facts and is not ideal.

What do folks think is the best route to go ahead? Thanks in advance.
