  • B2 visa rejected under 221(g)..what does it mean?

Hello, I just had an interview for B2 visa and it got rejected. The reason is 221(g), they said I have to apply for R visa.

    Interview:

    1. why do you want to go to USA?
    A. to visit a temple and help them

    2. what will u being there?
    A. I will be giving seminars based on teachings of the Vedas plus do some temple
    services.
VO: it looks like a R visa type.

    3. do u have any relatives in USA?
    A. no I don’t

    4. when did u become Australian citizen
    A. in 2007

    5. why aren’t you appling for R visa.
    A. they want me to go there for 6 months to start with and see if I can handle the temple situation and American culture. Plus I want to go there only for 6 months and for no longer. (VO wasn’t convinced)
    6. is it an established temple
    A. yes

    7. are you a fully trained priest?
    A. yes

VO was reading my sponsor letter and experience letter very carefully and finally he said I have to apply for R visa. Because I will be working for a temple in USA so visitor visa is not right category. He said we will keep your application on hold and I have to go through correct procedure for R visa. He gave me a pink letter and wrote on it, "Apply for R visa".

I asked, so are you going to send me my passport back in mail and he said you can take your passport back now cause I wont be giving visa under B2, anyways. So I took my passport and walked away. He did not return my documents. I hope he will send them back by mail.

Could you please tell me what does that mean by my application is on hold? Can I still travel to USA on visa waiver program?

That would be a great help.
    Thank you
    Regards
    Hala

If you remember my posts, did it not turn out like I told you?

But you did not heed my advice.

When you go through a visa waiver, you have to clear ESTA ( travel authorization) first.
If you clear that, you are good to go.

Thank you for your reply. Sorry I gave you one incorrect information. I have been given blue form and not pink. does it make any difference? about ESTA, I already have an approved ESTA from 2011. which is valid till 2013. I have been to USA on that one couple of times.

Can I still use that ESTA approval? or DO I have to apply for a new one?

      Thanks
      Regards
