  • B1 or B2?

    Hi,

I actually prepared to apply for b2 for tourism along with my wife and kid. I scheduled the interview also. My employer asked me to go on B1. So I am just thinking what is the easiest way to approach

    - Applying all three members as self sponsored B2 applicants?
    - Applying B1 for myself and B2 for dependents.

Also let me know , if its possible to change the DS-160 form or I can fill a new one and schedule an appointment with the new DS-160.

    Thanks

Whether applying for a business trip ( B1) or pleasure (B2) , the visa issued is always in a combined form B1/B2.
B1/B2 is easier to get if you are going alone on a business trip .

The whole family going for a pleasure visit, chances of denial are higher .
    Because;
1.Pleasure trip is not so important. Business trip is.
2.You are leaving no one behind as a family tie.
3.You need to be wealthy/ extremely well earning
4.. And they consider other factors like prior history of tourism in europe, other countries.
If it is not there, they can deny.

I suggest you go alone on a business trip first.
Once returned , the visa officer knows that you are not likely to stay back.
On your next business trip , your family can apply to accompany you.

About cancelling DS-160, I am not too sure. Call VFS, they know everything.

      hey peace999

Thanks for your comments. Even my employer is asking me to do the same.

I called the VFS and they asked me to fill a new DS160 form and get a new slot with the new ds160 after cancelling the booked slot

I ll keep you posted about the result soon.
