B1/B2 visitor visa for FPGEE..any info, please help

Hi,
Have any of you applied for B1/B2 visa(for pleasure) to come and take the FPGEE exam for pharmacists in US?
A friend of mine has received the admission ticket for this exam, and will be having B1/B2 visa interview in Chennai soon. He's working in a wellknown hospital in India and wants to go back after the test.
Any of you who have had this experience, please advise at the earliest...

I believe the procedure, etc. doesn't changes except that it will probably be a self sponsored trip, and the documentation will have to be prepared in that way.
