  • F1 Sponsoring parents visa for graduation walk

    Hi,

I am currently on F1 visa , I graduated and I am working on OPT for past 4 monhts. I want to invite my parents to attend my graduation ceremony. My parents cannot show self sponsorship. I have a younger brother in India and my parents own good amount of property in India but not liquid assets. But they can easily show my brother and the property as "ties with India" I am married and my husband has been working for 4 years in US. Me and my husband do not have the same last name.

My parents visa got rejected once and we had shown that my husband is sponsoring their visit.

Now we are planning to re-apply and I need to decide whether I should sponsor them or my husband should sponsor their visit. Both the options have some negative effects

Since I am on F1, it may not seem believable that I can sponsor them ( Though, I have enough balance in my account and I have my paystubs to support that balance). If my husband sponsors them, the DS-160 form does not have option of explaining how is he related to my parents. so it seems like some random relative is sponsoring their trip. I believe their visa got rejected the first time because the form had my name under "child in US" and my husband's name under sponsorship. They did not ask any relevant questions to let my parents explain the situation.

Can you please suggest which is a better option: My sponsorship or my husband's sponsorship?
