  • Tourist VISA for Parents

    Hi,

I am planning to call my parents who are now retired as my wife is expecting. I want them to stay with me for 3 months. My stay in US is Temporary till mid of next year 2013. Also, my parents don't have any property in India but bought a plot which they are paying in installments. They have a sufficient bank balance in India. I don't any brother/sister in India as of now.

I receive salary in the form of Diems per day in US which is less than $3000.

My Query - Will it be problem for me to sponsor my parents to US? Please suggest what can be done to make them come over to US.

    Thanks In Advance!!!

Getting a visitor's visa to US has become like a rolling of dice. That said, the most important points that seem to emerge are the applicant's ties to India. Common indicators are solid financial status, immovable properties, children living in India and so on.

In your case not having any siblings back in India may prove to be a negative point. Low income and not being able to produce any W-2 / tax returns can be an issue if you were to sponsor them. But if they can afford it, they should say that the trip is self sponsored. The important thinkg will be for them to project a very strong financial base in India.

Also not to mention the fact about your wife's pregnancy. This has never been a popular reason with the Consulate officials.

    Good luck!
