  • getting medical help while on tourist visa

    Hello,
I have a question on getting medical help when we are traveling to USA on visitor visa.

My doctor has asked me to take an injection every 3 months and I can bring the injection with me when I am traveling. How can I get help in getting this injected?

If i have medical insurance, can i just go to any hospital and ask them to help me with this. My concern is because what if they say we haven't done diagnosis and we can't inject something u r carrying around. if i bring the prescription and the letter from doctor, will this help at all? If the hospitals don't do it, is there any other alternatives for this? Has anybody run into this situaiton before.

    Thank you in advance!

Assuming you wish to spend 6 months; you can time it so that you take one injection in India at the start of journey and one when you return.
That leaves only one to be taken while in US.

Your travel insurance won't cover this. It only covers emergencies.

If you are willing to pay , you can take the prescription to a medical facility and they will inject it from their own stock. That is the safest , if the injection has any potential for any reactions.

The injection with that dosage is not available in US or atleast i am not aware of. I plan to bring it from India. The question really here is that, if we hand it to them will they inject it? OR will they say, no we can't do that and u have be diagnosed and u have use the ones available in the US and they can't inject what we are giving them even though we have prescription and letter from the doctor?

Only someone who has been through this will know the answer to this. If someone has been through this, please reply and share your thoughts.

What is the injection for? It all depends upon that.

I am personally aware of one person who had dog bite while visiting India from the U.S., just couple of days before returning to the U.S. She took one injection while she was in India and carried the rest to the U.S. She carried the prescription for the same and the Dr report from India and took to the U.S. physician and she injected multiple times as necessary at the internal of proper number of days.

However, that is a simple case and not much complications or no other variations of what needs to be given.

Travel insurance will not cover such things. You will have to pay for it.
