Visitor visa for my family

Hi, i m planning pleasure/tourism trip to united states.
We are a family of 5. My nephew is working in California. He will be sponsoring our trip.
I have few queries. Can you please help me out with some solutions.
1) can we apply in a group, or we would have to apply it saperately?
2) we bear a very sound Social and financial status in India. We have many properties. Will it be sufficient to prove that we would be coming back to India?
Can you please give us some tips?

1. Who are you counting as 5 in the family?
2. If you have many properties and have sound financial status in India, why is someone else sponsoring you? Why don't you show that you can take care of the expenses yourself?

We are a family of 5.
1) I am 63 years old, a retired District and Sessions Judge.
2) wife - 57 years
3) my mother - 84 years
4) my son - 25
5) my daughter - 29.
Can we apply in a group or we will have to submit our applications saperately? My nephew has sent an invitation letter on my name and invited all the members of my family.
Can you please explain the procedure of group application?

Can i show that i can take care of my expenses on my own or is it compulsory to have a sponsor setelled in united states? I can show my bank details and some fixed deposit cerficates as well...

No, it is not mandatory to have a sponsor from US.

But all 5 of you going is totally not recommended.

The most important issue is being potential immigrants.

*Your retired status ,
* the whole family going ,including young people and
* nephew as a host ( indirect relation), all
make you suspect that you may not come back .
And excuse me for being frank, most likely will be denied.

For good strategy , please post;
*What is your annual family income( you + wife) range ? <10L, 10-20L, >20L
*Have you ever been outside India on a pleasure trip? europe, singapore etc.
*Do you have any direct relations in US? brother, sister?

My income is between 15-20 lakhs.
This will be my first foreign trip but my family members having been to singapore and hong kong before on a pleasure trip.
Ya, mother of my nephew is my real sister.
I have many properties in India, wont that be a sufficient reason to come back to India?

Four separate applications:

You and your wife
Your mother
Your son
Your daughter

Each of you have to show independently that they (or someone else for them) can take care of the expenses for the U.S. trip. Each of you have to separately prove that you will come back.

Propery in India alone is not enough to overcome the potential immigrant intent.

The biggest question would be: Why is your nephew inviting ALL of you all of sudden? What is going on?

Ok. Here is the thing.
Property, documents have secondary value. Most cases, they do not even ask about them or even look at them.

For them the criteria to come back are;
1. family ties ,
2. income ties
3.and work ties.

If the whole family is going, you are not leaving any family ties behind.
And you are retired, so no work ties.
These two things will surely get you a denial.

I suggest the following;
*Only you and your wife apply together.
*Purpose; to visit your sister . That is a very convincing purpose than the nephew.
That way you will have your mother and children as family ties to come back to.
That is very positive.
*Show self funding .
They will ask you what you do for a living. Say you are a retired judge and add on your own that you still have an income of 15 lacs + year . And xxxx lacs savings. Carry proof of both.
*Get your sister to send you an invitation stating her visa status, and a copy of that.
They will ask you how long do you wish to stay ; say 2-3 months, not more.

We 5 are planning to go but my brother and sister in law will be there in India looking after our farms and farming business.
After my retirement i have involved myself completely in my farming business.
We are also setting up a pulses factory at our native place which is underway.

1. You can apply for US tourist visa as one family or group. You can do this on your DS 160 Form.
2. Given the circumstance of having a sound social and financial status in your country would be a help to convince the Consular Officer that you will just be back to your home country after your trip and eventually for you to get approved tourist visa. If you have a sponsor, please indicate clearly his part on your trip. You need to present a very detailed itinerary and the extent of your nephew's sponsorship. It would be better if you have your own funds to spend during your trip.

In how many days i have to pay the visa fees in Hdfc bank and schedule an appointment in VFS after applying online for visitors visa.....?
