    Hi,

My mother's visa was rejected twice, inspite of having many ties in India, with 5 children+9 grand children and property etc, this could not be communicated as no questions were asked to her. My mother does not speak English, both the time we had transalators. We are currently just guessing that is the major drawback in our case is the language.

For this, we have decided my elder brother (who is married and has family) will apply with her. This is solely for helping my mother in the interview. Is it a good idea? We are not concerned of my brother's visa whether he gets it or not, we just want visa for my mother. He is bussinessman, hence we can show good finance and family ties. What do you think? Is this good idea? Will this help us?

    Thanks
    Mallika

This is not good idea at all. Both may be rejected.

I don't think translator is the problem.

      Mallika,

      1. Language/Translator is not an issue at all.
      2. Since you say no questions were asked to your mom, I presume with my little experience that something might be wrong with the Affidavit of Support or the file containing the docs( your passport copies, green card copies, your IT return statement copies, your bank statements, Invitation letter to your mom, your employer's letter etc etc ) sent by you to you mom. I say this coz at the interview this is the first thing they ask for. If there is a problem in this or with the info given in DS156/157, the interview may not proceed.
      3. What is the reason for rejection which they have mentioned. Take a hint from there.
      4. Have you given Affidavit of Support before for any other person. If yes, did you mention it. Did that person return back to India in time.
      5. Did your mom carry with her the itinerary(DS157 asks for it) showing confirmed tickets.
      6. If you are not working, then Affidavit of Support should be given by your husband and also in the column for name of the sponsor and the name of the person with whom your mom would be staying should have the name of your husband in DS156/157.
      7. Did you mention during the 2nd attempt, the reason for rejection the 1st time.
Above are few small issues but I guess they matter a lot. May be something may have gone wrong there. Pl check.

Try to go into the reason of rejection and make another attempt. There are many here who got it in 3rd attempt also.

      Best wishes.
      Atul.
