Administrative processing???

I had my interview in the Consulate yesterday.the interview went fine...
and he told me that i need an admistrative processing...??what is that???
he gave me a letter saying this:
dear applicant:
A consuler officer has approved your Non.immigrent visa application and has determined that additional processing is required before printing your visa.the timmings will vary from case-by-case basis but will generally take a minimum of one month..once we have completed the processing we wil send yur passport back to you by the courier.. thank you for your patience..
Now the VO was giving tokens to others,(to whome he was issuing visa) but in my case he gave me no token, and he said that you can show this letter to the couirer and collect your passport..and then iasked him did i get a visa he said Yes.
However to the people whose visa was rejected the passports were given back..
NOW i do not know whats this whole thing. i do not have any millitry or intellegnce record.NOthing like that....is there any chance of visa rejection once i get my passport back??
I want to know your opinon.

That means they need to do some name change or background check on your. Just wait to hear from them.

On documents check they did not see any of my documents just asked for my husband passport copy and I94..Thats it!
BUt this does not mean rejection of a visa. right??

FYI- My parents got a call to submit there passport today. There administrative processing took 3 months total. Washington verified that they received the Information(NEW DELHI) on friday and they call my parents today.

Administrative Processing Ended-Visa Approved

I wanted to let everybody know that my visitor visa has been approved! I really want to thank everybody who helped me on this from this forum and other. Please let me know if anybody needs my help(my opinion) on this matter.

congrats on your visa.

My father has the same issuse, he went to chennai consulate for B1/B2 visitor Visa, but for some reason they did collect an additional sum of fee and said 3 weeks of administrative processing and it seems they will contact him.

so far 2 weeks have passed by. Does the consulate call you before sending their approval desicion. or else is it just waiting for the day for the courier to send in their passport?

Any info will be very helpful to us

Aneesh, dun worry in this case visa does not get rejected..99% chances are positvie!!
basically they do background check on you,(i mean how you go tthere etc...)
or your parents, the information they provided on 157, 156 forms..etc..
So dun worry they wil get the visa..!!I think multiple!!

Hi yea i think you should contact them and ask them whats going on with your case...
do let us know how it goes..
NO in my case they did not ask for any document just returnd my passport with 5 years visa on it!!

i went for h4 stamping in nov'30 to chennai consulate,till now i didn't get any reply from the consulate.u already gone through to this situation.when did u go for stamping,after how many days did u get visa,how did they contact u.please give me all the information in detail.
