    Dear Team,

I shall appreciate if you can provide valuable suggestion on my B1/B2 visitor case.

I am planning to visit US with my spouse. I have lived in US for 8 years (went to US for my studies on F1 and then worked in US on H1) and move back to India in 2010. Thereafter, I have joined IBM as a Software Developer. My spouse work as Researcher with leading Management School in India.
Now, I am planning to visit US for tourism purpose and meet my family and friends. I am planning to take following documents:
    - IT returns for past 3 years
    - my investment in various properties
    - Bank statement for past 3 months
    - Letter from my current employer
    - My dad's IT returns
    - My dad's Bank Statement and business Balance sheet
    - my non-profit certificate of appreciation and commendation
    - Education certifcates

Can you suggest other areas on which I can strengthen my case? I shall appreciate your valuable feedback.

The assessment of a B1/B2 is 90% verbal with documents having a secondary value.
The questions are on basic life situation which you cannot really change.

You seem to be fine in terms of job ties .

But who are the relatives you are visiting? Simply visiting friends is usually not
    a strong reason.
    What is the exact relationship?
Have you asked them to send you sponsorship documents?

      Hi,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I plan to visit my Sister and Brother in Law in United States. They are sending an invitation letter and their US residence documents.

Regarding sponorship, my dad is sponsoring our trip to states.

Any other valulabe input or suggestion is much appreciated.

Ok . Visiting sis is just fine.

But funding from dad is not fine. It shows you do not earn well to fund a trip to US.
That is a negative point for a visitor visa.

Both of you have decent jobs. If your total family income (husb + wife) is 15L + /yr , you should be fine funding yourself.

          Hi,

Thanks once again for your reply.

Actually, our annual family (spouse and I) income is way less than Rs 15 L per year, so I have my dad as sponsor.

But, I have invested a lot (around 50 L) in US stock market and Real estate in India. Can that help to show I am financial strength?

is there any other way around I show my financial strength?

          Best

For young people , they take income as financial strength.
People can borrow and build up bank balances , so they do not rely on that.

Just the mention of dad sponsoring for a mature married couple is just not right for the visa decision. Instead , you could ask your sis to send you sponsorship papers.

BTE, what is your (you +wife) family income from all sources which you show in
            tax returns?
Also, what is the amount of liquid savings (Fds , bank balance) both of you have?

If both can combine to show a decent figure, let us see if you can sponsor yourself.

On the tax return side, I filled my taxes thru my company. My taxable income for last year was 5.3 L as I joined the company in May before that I use to file taxes in US.

My wife does not file taxes as she is working as researcher and her income is dependent on projects which she is get, somewhere around 20-25K per month.

My average balance in my bank account floats around 40k and my wife's 60 K. I have invested around $ 8k on various mutual funds in US and some investment arnd Rs. 30L in Real Estate in NCR.

Actually we got married in OCT'11 but cud not go on Honeymoon because of my work schedule. My dad planned to gift me the honeymoon package which I am planning to utilize now in upcoming summer vacation.

                Ok.
Your and your wife's income plus your savings are not enough for self funding.
They could also be a hinderance as a weak financial tie even if someone else
                funded

But the honeymoon thing could work, if you get a good officer who will ignore your income.

Go ahead with the plan of your dad gifting you the trip.
Make sure your dad has a strong income base of 15 lacs + /yr.
Take his IT returns or some income proof with you.

                Good luck.

                  Hi,

Thanks for your advice. Our Visa application was approved. Fortunately, we got a good VO and she didnt ask any questions on my financials. She asked Have we been to US before? What we do for work? and Why we are going to US?

Thanks once again for your great advice as you helped me to look at my weak points and your suggestions helped me to work on those points.
