  • Visitor Visa Questions

    Hi

I am planning to book a visa appointment for my parents. I am currently on H1B.
I am on the only child. My father is retired and he doesnt get any pension as he was doing a private job.
We have a house on my mothers name and my father has some fixed Bonds which is giving interest.

What is the possibility of getting visa. Should we carry any additional docs for visa to get approved.
They are planning to stay for 3 months.

    .
They will decide on the basis of your parents' ties to India, not documents.

I am sorry to say, you being the only child in US (no family ties)and
your dad being retired( no work or income ties)
, these two things will make
it very difficult for them to get a B1/B2 visa.

      Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Can you give me suggestions on how to make my case strong. I know i cant change things but is there is a way to convince them.

Actually, the way they decide is not really fair.
        They will just ask two questions;
How many children ? What do you do and your income?
and they will deny without giving the chance to show something more.

Your dad needs to show some occupational tie and not show retired status.
Is he working age somewhat? Can he work ( part time or a small home business) ?

Husband visiting me for up to 4 years without plans for immigration

My husband and I got married December 3,2011 in Michigan. I am a born u.s citizen, he is a born Australian citizen. Originally we planned on filing permenant residency for both him and his 14 yr old son. But his exwife changed her mind on allowing him to come. My husband is not willing to leave his son. Unless something changes, we will not be able to file for greencard for four years when his son is 18. I was told by an immigration lawyer that he can not visit me because we married in the U.S without a greencard. I have researched this some online and read of people visiting spouses with a b2 visa? Is that attainable? Or is there any way he can visit me over these next 4 years with out it having a negative impact on the later permanent visa we will apply for? Four years is a long wait! Please let me know whatever you know... Thanks so much!

You have posted in the middle of someone else's topic.
You should start a new topic for your new post.

              Anyways,
As an australian citizen he can make use of the visa waiver to visit you for 3 months on each visit.

B1/B2 will be difficult especially when the purpose will be ' going to visit my wife'.
That will show him as a 'potential immigrant'
as opposed to the non-immigrant intent required for a B1/B2.
