  • Mother's VISA

    Hi,

I have L1 Blanket VISA valid till Aug 2014. On 21-Jan-2012 I have been to the US (Syracuse, NY POE- Chicago) alone (without family) and had to come back India within 15 days due to some family emergency. Even I did not apply for the SSN number.

After coming to India I applied for correction of my mother's name & inclusion of my mother's name in my passport and a new passport was issued me for this change.

On 30-June, I am again going to US(LA) for 6 months. I am planning to take my wife and mother after 1 month of my arrival.

My company is providing dependent VISA for my wife(will apply within 1 or 2 days) but I need to get my mother's VISA (tourist) by myself.

Following are details of my mother:
    1. She is 12th pass
    2. My father expired in May-2010
    3. She has a flat on her name, me too have another flat registered on my name
    4. She is non working
    5. She gets 9K per month pension from ra***ays (My father was working in ra***ays)
    6. We have a good property in our village(hometown)
    7. We don't have Form16 for her.
    8. Last year we bought a flat, so don't have much transaction/balance in her bank account. But I can arrange 2L in her account before her VISA interview.
    9. I will be earning $4100 there.
    10. My in-hand salary(after all deductions) in India is 29K.

We are only three member's in family(me, my mother and my wife). I really want her to be with me in US for the duration I will be there.

Please suggest what are the possibilities of my mother tourist VISA. Also, please provide any suggestion's to make it possible for her.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Thanks,
    M.K Teotia

    Sorry, Let me be very frank;
Non-working widows with only child in US find it very difficult to get visitor visas.

They look at real life family and work ties that will compel a person to come back .
No work, no husband, no child= No ties.

Property, bank balance, documents won't even be looked at.

I am not the only child. My sister is residing nearby our locality. She is married.

Last year my mother opened a boutique. Will this help?

Please give me any suggestions. I want to take her with me. Please...

My mother will be back after 4-5 months with me.

Sorry. You said you were only 3 members in your family .
Anyways, married daughters do not count much as a tie.

        It seems difficult but if she must try;

Boutique is a good thing but she must not show a stay of 4-5 months.
Mention one month of stay because she has to run the boutique . also she must have an answer
to who will run the boutique while she is gone.
You Should not invite her right after reaching there. That alone will bring a denial.
Wait till the end of your stay; 4th or 5th month.
Purpose should be to see US before you come back in the 7th month.
If she can go with her daughter, that will look more natural.

Thanks a lot for your response. I will take care of the mentioned points.

Actually the main reason is only to show her USA before I come back. Even 1 month is okay.

Q> Do I need to get Form16(IT return) for her? We have never filled any return for her.

Q> Where can I see all the documents required and the procedure to apply for her VISA?

          Many thanks in advance.
