Visitor (B2) visa for parents

Hi,

My husband is on L1 and I am on L2 (visa valid till Aug/2013).. Husband is acting as a sponsor for my parents visitor visas. My father is 74yrs old and mother is 70yrs and both are retired since 10-11 yrs. They have 2 daughters. (one is me in USA) and my elder sister is in UAE. They have 2 properties and a Car and some investments and both receive pension in India.

What are their chances of being granted a visa according to your experience. Thank you for the information.

Reitred parents with both children outside India will find it difficult , if not impossible to get a visitor visa.
Basically, the officers are looking for family and work ties to India that will compel a person to return.
Both are missing in your parents' case.

There is no harm in trying. Sometimes you get a good officer or success comes after repeated attempts.
1. They will ask them the duration they want to go for. 3 months is ideal. Some people say
5-6 months which the officers take as an immigrant intent.
2.If they receive strong combined monthly income from all sources ( 1L/m) or have large savings( 20L+) , then they can show self funding .

My Parents visa got approved..

I just wanted to write back to say that my parents visitor visa just got approved today.. Their interview went very well, In spite of both children living outside India, they answered very confidently.. Thank you for your help!

I'm trying for my mother's visitor visa.If you don't mind,can you share the details of the visa process for your parents?Did your parents self sponsor their visa?If yes,can you tell me which all documents did they show to the officer?In my case,I'm planning to get my brother sponsor for my mom's visa,& I want to know the details as in which documents to carry etc.Please reply if possible.

B2 visa

Hi Chini,

My husband is sponsoring my parents trip, so we sent them all the sponsor documents (the list of these you will find on this website under sponsorship documents).. the rest of the papers my parents took, were their houses ownership, car ownership papers, FDs, tax returns, vbank passbooks.. everything you can think of just to show that they have earnings in India, and are not dependable on us..(and will not stay back in the U.S.A for that reason).... But they did not ask to show a single document... Its better to be prepared incase they ask!

I also prepared them on what questions the officer is likely to ask, so they were very confident while answering... (*** I've realized that they look for confidence in the person at the interview also... they should try not to hesitate about any question they are answering**).. and let them say they will stay for only 3months... and not 6months!!!... Later you can change that once they get their visa!!

In my case,I'm thinking of my brother sponsoring my mom's visa.I've read that that makes the case stronger.I'm very worried bcos my mom is a widow.So trying all the possibilities to make her case strong.I'm not able to find much info regarding the child sponsoring from India, so when I read your case thought of asking you.

I'm so happy that your parents got the visas.You can certainly help me,by praying for me & my mom for her visa:-)
