  • B2 visa for Parents

    Hi ,

I need urgent help as I am planning to apply for Visitors visa for my parents , please help me and guide me with below questions:

1.I am on L2 visa valid till July 2013 and working on EAD with permanent job since last one year

I Have applied for H1 in April but still it is not approved.

so is it good if I sponsor visa on L2 status ? or should I wait for H1 approval then sponsor visa to my parents?

2.My mothers name is misspelled on my passport , so what we can do in this case as I don’t want to make any changes in my passport.. ?

3.My dad age 64 , he is retired for government job and getting pension and mom age is 59 ,

Dad has property worth more than 30-35 lacks ,which support property document we should carry at the time of interview.?

4.I have 1 sister and 2 brothers all live in india , which documents we should carry at the time of interview to show that parents are visiting just to see US and stay with us for 2/3 months.

5.In which consulate we should take appointment as I have not heard good about Mumbai consulate as many visa got rejected it seems .

My husband tried for his parents visa which got rejected without any reason on March 3rd-2012 in Mumbai consulate .Though we had provided all documents.

so this time want to make sure we prepare very good

Please help me with these question , your help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Nil

    1. You can also ask your L1 spouse to sponsor your parents. L2 +Ead may not be good.
    2. That is not an issue they care for. Still, you can send a copy of your bc showing your mother's correct name.
    3. Most of the time they do not care for property. They care more for your job status and income. In that regard, just being retired becomes a negative point.
But some officers are good they may ask if you have savings and property , he can take a copy of his property papers and a real time appraisal of its market value by an assessor.
    4. No need for documents. JUst answering their question about children in India will be enough.
    5. Sorry do not know about the consulate question. Visitor visa decisions are arbitrary.
6.Post your in-laws interview in Q and A form, let us see what went wrong there.
The cause is usually hidden in the interview.

      Thanks for the quick reply.

In-laws interview was in Marathi, all questions probably answered by my mother in law

      Q .Who live in US?
      A :Our son

      Q. Where he work?
      A: xyz company

      Q.What is his address?
A.They answered the city name and State name

Q.Why you are going ?and for how long?
      A. Just to visit and for 2/3 months.

Then officer said you cannot go , your visa is not approved.

That’s it they even could not ask why ? then we ask to visa agent what could be the reason he said traveling reason is not clear and it seems they are rejecting most of the visa in that particular period of March month.

      Two more question :

1.About visa sponsoring person’s bank statement , should we maintain good balance in your bank account and then provide those bank statement ? does that make any difference?

2.Our L1/L2 valid till 2013 , so it is just one year left , is it some problem if VO will think oh! its only 1 yr left like that ...i know its vague question but i really want visa for my parents and in-laws .

so I just want to clear my all doubts from your experience

1..Yes, that will help. Also, your yearly income will be taken into account ( IT return)

          2. Visitor visa decisions are so unpredictable, you never know why they will refuse .
There is no guarantee, one can only try.
Even with one year left , you can go ahead.

Sorry to hear that. It happened to me 1 year back when i tried to get visitor visa for my parents. My father was on a govt. job at that time and mother was a housewife. The officer asked the exactly same questions that you told. And the visa was REFUSED Now my father is retired and I am trying to get the visa again in next month. I don't know what else I can do.
