  • US visitor visa for my mother! Need help!!

    Hi,
I am applying for visa to my mom. 6 months ago my father passed away and would there be any issues in getting the visa approval for my mom? Myself and my sister are two children. My sister is already married. But my mom has to take care of my grandmother(father's mother).
would it be okay if my mom goes for visa interview carrying the documents including the death certificate(for my father)?
She is going to mention that she needs to take care of mother-in-law. do we need to show any other proof that she will go back or would it be sufficient?
I appreciate for your time in this matter.
    Thanks.

you can also mention that after the demise of your father she is still upset and needs a change of atmosphere and place.
Hence I am inviting her to usa for x weeks for the sake of company and tourism.

Thanks for your reply. I am in dilemma whether to include my father's incident or not. Currently I am on EAD. If I don't include my father's incident, in future will there be any issues? Down the road, if my mom has to go for visa again and I include the death certificate at that time would they check the year and verify?
Some friends are telling not to include. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

It is up to you to mention that your father passed away or not. In DS160 you have to select Married, unmarried, Widow. if you don't mention, the visa office may ask your mom, where is your husband. she should have answer for that. As I have seen getting a B1 visa for widow is very very tough, but you must try. say something like, after your father passed away all properties moved to her name. should show unmarried son/daughter with her, etc. needs to show some kind of responsibilities she has, and she needs to comeback to take care of them.
visa officer never ask death certificate. need to show strong ties and responsbilities.

It is NOT upto you to mention whatever you want to, in the DS-160. Never ever lie in DS-160. The VO will know in no time if you have lied. If found lying on DS 160, there is a life ban on entering into US.
There are hundreds of people who try to act smart, and are caught on a regular basis. Just be truthful about things.
This is my opinion. Not a legal advice
