  • Not comfortable revealing Income on I-134 form

    Hi,
I'm filling out I-134 form for cousin brother and found out that I have to reveal lots of personal information like income, insurance, tax forms, bank balances etc. I don't want to divulge all this information on my sponsor letter.. If they get the visa, they will come here and stay with us but I'm not going to be responsible for air-fare or any other sight seeing expenses. They are asking for sponsor letter from me only because its just another supporting document. He's going to use his own income and supporting documents. Why do I have to show mine?

I'm not sure if people put wrong income or bank balances and its ok to do that or not.

Please provide the suggestion and also let me know if there is any other form that I can provide where I don't have to put all this info.

    regards,
    Vinnie

if you are not financially supporting their trip then I dont think there is any necessity for you to fill I-134. They should be ok with their own income statements and proofs. This is my opinion not legal opinion.

If you are not providing financial help, you just send them an invitation letter. You don't have to send them sponsorship papers because you are not sponsoring them. It is not mandatory for someone to sponsor visitors. They can come on their own if they are able to.

However, in case you need to sponsor them because they don't have any money, you need to show all the financial details to show that you have the capacity to do so. If you are uncomforable doing that, you can't sponsor them. (We get this question a lot from the guys who wants to sponsor parents-in-laws but don't want them to know what he makes.)
