  • No Surname in Passport but Surname in Visa (B2)

    Hi,

My In-laws recently appeared for B2 Visa interview and got an approved Visa. Thanks to this forum for providing information about the required documents! However, here is the situation:

    Father In Law:

    Passport:

    Surname: Blank
    Given Name: Raja Manian

    DS 160:
Surname: Raja Manian (Since it did not let me fill in details without Surname and per other folks suggestion used given name here).
    Given Name: FNU

    Visa:
    Surname: Manian
    Give Name: Raja

    Mother In Law:

    Father In Law:

    Passport:

    Surname: Blank
    Given Name: Rajalakshmi

    DS 160:
Surname: Rajalakshmi (Since it did not let me fill in details without Surname and per other folks suggestion used given name here).
    Given Name: FNU

    Visa:

    Surname: Rajalakshmi
    Given Name: FNU

Will there be a travel problem (Airlines) for my Father in law or my mother in law? Will Airlines let them through? Will they face any issues in Port of entry here in the US?

    Thanks,
    Raj

Could you please elaborate? Dies this mean my MIL is fine but my Father in law is not? What problems do you see for my Father in law?

I also did not have a surname. When I went to USA, in the I 94 form I filled my first name as FNU and my given name as mentioned in the passport as surname. I entered USA thrice without any problem. You can tell your parents to follow the same.
        Good wishes
