  • Can I apply for a tourist visa???

    Here is my problem:

I am currently studying Equine Science (i.e. horses) at a University in my home country (South Africa). I am finishing my second year and have to work at a horse establishment for my third year to gain practical experience in the industry (it is known as work integrated learning at our University). During this time we have assignments that have to be written and sent back to the University for evaluation. We are not required to be paid at all, because we are still students and studying. I have found a horse establishment in Florida USA that is willing to accommodate me in 2013. The position they advertised is a working student position. We help out with the daily care of the horses and receive free accommodation and training. We may also receive $200 per month. I am hoping to go there for at least 3 months, but would like to stay for longer if I can manage it. Once I have completed my third year I will receive my National Diploma in Equine Science and I will then continue my studies for a fourth year to get my degree.

My question is... can I go in with a tourist visa (visitor's visa)? I've been looking at the different types of visa's available but don't know which better suites my situation.

Can anyone give me some advice????

RE: Can I apply for a tourist visa???

Well I can suggest you ,you can take Student Visa instead of tourist VISA as in this you can have some kind of hidden benefits and for tourist visa you must fufill these things:
You can get a 12 month working holiday visa

To be eligible, applicants need to meet the following requirements:

    * hold a passport issued by an eligible country or region
    * be aged between 18 and 30 (inclusive) at the time of applying
    * not have accompanying dependent children
    * meet health, character and financial requirements

but you have to consult with the VISA providing specialist of companies they will give you more details about it and give you right direction what to do ? and how to apply? all the best for your studies .Well Canada is very good for higher studies as well and universities are also good as applying for visa not only help by providing VISA but also provide the education centres and universities regarding your studies by consultants.
