Vo said visa issued but rejected when received the passport by courier

I attended my visitor visa interview on 14 August 2012. After the interview Vo said visa will be issued and took the passport. I received the passport on sep 12 but the visa was rejected under 214b.
At the time of interview I had answered everything and showed whatever document Vo wanted to see. He then took the passport and said the visa will be issued, but when I received my passport I was shocked to see that it was rejected.
Since the Vo said it will be issued we had made all our bookings, now we are loosing money because of cancellation. Can anything be done about this. Any suggestions advice welcome.

There is nothing you can do about it. You should not make any travel arrangements until you have approved visa in your hand.
