  • visitors visa in mumbai - pls advice

    Hi,

My parents have visited USA in 2003. My mom had a 10 year visa, and she is currently in USA. My dad had only a 1 year visa (they applied at different times) and he has to reapply for the visa at Mumbai. I have qns, and will appreciate any help:

    1. The online appointment is for October 2005, is there any way to get an earlier appointment (like applying in person)
    2. Is there any way to change/modify appointments for mumbai?
    3. Is my mom already being is USA an issue?
    4. My parents have four chidren, all in USA. Will this still be a problem even if he is applying for the second time? How can I prepare him?
    5. I am sending all the documents, are there any documents needed from the other chidren?
    6. My sister had sponsered him last time, is it better that she send the I-134 again, or does it matter if I send it this time (I have to answer "no" for "have you sponsered anyone before?", though my dad has been to USA once.)
    7. Does he need any of my mom's documents?
    8. Is it ok to say that wife is currently visiting USA, if asked...how to handle this?

    Please help...
    Thanks
    Jyoti

    1.I do not think so.
2.To change/cancel appointments, go to ttsvisas homepage.
3--8. If your father did not overstay his 2003 visit, he has good chances of getting the visa.
    That said, consulars look for
ASSURED RETURN to home country and all your family being in the US can go against that. Your father may have to show strong
ties to home country like large financial base, property,JOB, business to
which he will come back. Rule of thumb is not to lie to any question.
If asked about your mother, he can say that he will retun with his wife.
No documents required from your mom or other siblings.
You could send the I-134, but it may be better if your sister sends it
    again.
    Good luck.

        Application Centers

        Friends,
Do all cities have the option of going to an Application Center for getting an appointment. If so are there any in Bangalore and Madras.

YOU CAN ONLY REQUEST AN EARLY APPT IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. HOWEVER, YOU MAY VISIT THE VFS CENTER AND REQUEST THEM IF THEY CAN ACCOMODATE YOU EARLIER DEPENDING ON ANY CANCELLATIONS.
          2. Is there any way to change/modify appointments for mumbai?
YES YOU CAN DO IT BY GOING TO THE VFS CENTER. I AM NOT SURE IF YOU CAN DO THIS ONLINE.
          3. Is my mom already being is USA an issue?
YES IT COULD BE. MY ADVICE IS TO WAIT, LET YOUR MOM RETURN AND THEN APPLY.
          4. My parents have four chidren, all in USA. Will this still be a problem even if he is applying for the second time? How can I prepare him?
WELL IT IS WHAT IT IS. HE WILL HAVE TO SHOW STRONG TIES TO PROPERTY ETC IN INDIA AND TIES TO OTHER FAMILY MEMEBRS, JOB ETC IN INIDIA.
          5. I am sending all the documents, are there any documents needed from the other chidren?
YES THE CHILDREN SHOUD SEND THEIR BIO, BANK BALANCE AND PROPERTY HISTORY!!!!!!......JUST KIDDING..... C'MON MAN ...... GROW UP.
          6. My sister had sponsered him last time, is it better that she send the I-134 again, or does it matter if I send it this time (I have to answer "no" for "have you sponsered anyone before?", though my dad has been to USA once.)
LET YOUR SISTER SEND IT AGAIN...THIS IS BETTER AS SHE HAS SPONSERED HIM PREVIOUSLY AND HAS A PROVEN HISTORY
          7. Does he need any of my mom's documents?
JOINT A/C JOING PRPERTY DOCS ETC
          8. Is it ok to say that wife is currently visiting USA, if asked...how to handle this?

            pre-poning apptmt - an issue?

Thank you for your replies...I have one more qn - my dad contacted an agent for some information, and the agent told him that it may be better to just go with whatever interview date he got online, as going personally to the center and preponing the appointment may weaken his case....Is this possible? It does not seem that this is true since I understand that people keep changing the appointment many times...Any experiences?

            Thanks...

Not true ...How would it weaken the case? The agent seems to be an idiot or just a lazy bum!
