  • B2 Visitor visa rejected and possessing work visa in Australia

I am having Indian passport and working in Sydney since 7 months now, on Work visa permit. I am planning to go for 8 days holiday to the US, also to meet my friend and had my visa interview 3 days ago in Sydney. Questions asked were: Travel purpose, company I am working for, since how long in Sydney, family in Sydney? ( I do not have family in Sydney) I answered all but result was disappointing.

VO said, no issues related to job, financial aspect but ineligible for visa under section 214(b) i.e. "not having strong ties to Australia". I am planning to re-apply with leave sanction letter from my employer. But I think better strategy is required as I do not have any other parameter to convince consulate that I will come back Australia after trip.

Friends, appreciate your help on this case, specially regarding "factors to convince VO" as soon as possible. Its just matter of 8 days, travel itinerary is also ready.

Unfortunately you cant do much to change your family ties with Australia. Applying from home country might help. VOs dont see it as a "matter of 8 Days".Travelling all the way to US, for just 8 Days to meet friends might not be something that is convincing enough for the VO. They can very well assume that you are going to search for a job in US. If you are single it further lessens ones chances. Unfortunately that's how it has been off late.

Thanks Raghvi for reply. I know my case is tricky but still am searching for a ray of light and hope. I want to meet my girlfriend and other colleagues, will a confirmed tour itinerary / employer leave letter, add value ? Please let me know if something can be done.

If the VO has once seen no strong ties to Australia, s/he will see it the second time too.
From VOs point of view, how hard is it to change the travel itinerary after your visa is approved ?
All gimmicks done over the years have made them get a thick skin. A second denial will hamper your chances further when you apply for the third time even from your home country, although there is no documentation around such things, but it matters, I am told. So be very careful.
