  • B1 (business) visa extension

    hi,
We had come to US on a B1 for a period of 4 months. My I-94 expired on jun 30th. My company has already filed for an extension of another 2 months (i.e till aug 2005) and the receipt from USCIS is dated 23rd Jun . But now as per the progress of things we need not need to stay till Aug. I had a few queries regards the same:
    1) Can i leave early, say by july? which would evidently mean before getting any decision on the application. will it have any repurcursions on any future entires to US/ any future application for visa?
    2) What will happen if i dont get a decision even till Aug end? what should i do then?

I would highly appreciate if anyone can give me any suggestions.

    Thanks,
    shreya.

Suggestion: You can track your app status on-line once you have the reciept no.If it still takes a very long time , you could leave and your extension
approval could be mailed to you later by a friend/relative.

If you leave before the approval, your departure will be recorded under the US-VISIT system based on your old I-94 which you will deposit while leaving US. If you leave after you get an extension approval and a new I-94, your departure record will have both the old and the new I-94s as you will deposit both.

On future entries do bring the extension approval with you.
