COS from H1b to B2 - pending; extension needed - URGENT!!!

A few months ago I filed I539 application (COS from h1b to b2) which is still pending. I now realize that I will need to stay after the date that I stated in the COS application, which is around the corner (hence, the urgency).

Is there a way to file a revised I539 application with an updated departure date? If so, what is the procedure?

I would strongly advise against that. It will complicate matters further. As it is if you have stopped maintaining H1 status, if the COS gets denied, you will be out of status. It is even possible that COS gets approved up to the requested date but the approval decision comes in after that date. Consult an experienced immigration attorney, but I will advise you to leave and then return if needed.
