Hi all,
I think this has already been addressed but I wanted to make sure I understood correctly...
I'm visiting on a B2 visa from the UK and my i94 is due to expire on 13th May. I was originally planning to leave on that day and already have a flight booked, but I am now considering extending my visa for a further 6 months. I will be applying in the next 2 weeks when I have all of my documents/proofs in order, but i understand this will bring me quite close to my leaving date and the application may not be processed in time. So:
- If I have not received a decision by May 13th, am I required to leave the country on this date?
- Or am I legally able to stay in the country and await the decision?
- If my application is rejected, will I be subject to a deportation order?
- How will a rejection affect my current visa, any future visa applications and any future attempts to enter the country?
Also, my reason for coming here was tourism (kind of an extended holiday/gap year visit) and I would like to stay simply because I'm enjoying myself and have the means to support myself for a little longer. There are still some things I would like to see, festivals and events and a wedding I would like to attend, and also my family and friends would like to visit the wonderful city I've been living in. I don't want to misrepresent my reasons for staying but I'm wondering if this is good enough? I have every intention of returning home and several compelling reasons to do so, but in all honestly I would just like this holiday to last a little longer!
Would appreciate any information and advice on this!
Thanks
Elle
