Does USCIS grant more time than what one ask for - Visa extension

Hi,
I applied for 3 months visa extension fro MIL and now into the third month now, waiting approval.
Question - For visa extemnsion, is there any chance they will grant 6 months even though i asked for 3 months?

I agree, the answer is no.

Inlaws only applied for and asked for 45 day extension. Extension was approved for only 45 days. This happened to two months ago.
