I am going to US after 5 months on b1b2 visa , last time i got one month entry , i left US after 4 weeks . If officer asks me on US airport for how long to stay , for how long maximum i can request him?

What was the purpose of previous visit? Whats the purpose of the current one? How long is the visa valid? Some background regarding job, family back in home country also may help give some opinions.
