  • Visiting Visa for Parents - Query

    Hi,

I am in US right now on H1B Visa and I want to apply visiting visa for my parents. But I have a question. I have my passport with my mom's name different with name present on her passport.

I am incorrect name on my 10th certificate (Say B) and that too being fed to my passport and now my passport is with Mother's name as B.

But my mom passport is with her correct name (say A). I have below proofs if officer will ask this mismatch:

    1) I have a bank account with my name and my mother's correct name (A).
    2) I have my marriage photos to proof identification.
    3) I can make a notory saying that both A and B are same person and it belongs to my mom.

Please suggest whether the above proofs would be suffice if officer will ask the mismatch.

    Hello, Aneja.

I am not sure about the documents matching / mismatching question.

What i understand and feel is, a visa approval depends largely on the applicant's profile. So, as long as long as your parents' profile and case seems ok, this double name matter is secondary. I would have the necessary documentation done, just in case, but in most cases the Visa Officers do not look at elaborate documents. They make a call by looking at the profile of the applicant: Like education, nature of work, ties to India, ties to USA, financial position etc.

    I hope this helps.

    Wishing you luck.

    Cheers,
These are my personal thoughts. I am not a professional.

    Wishing you luck.
