  • extension of visitor visa

My parents are here for the 2nd time within a year. they left in sept 2004 and came back in Aug 2005. this time we plan to extend their visa. i would like to know the cons on getting the extension. i have heard that if we extend their visa they might not get the visa or a stamp at port of entry the next time they plan to visit, is this true?

I read from the website that the visa gets void if they are denied for the extension, is this true in all cases?

Is it advisable to get an extension?

    Thanks,
    Meena

    It really depends.

The idea is that the person is on tourist visa should be tourist. If the person tries to spend more time in US than outside US, he/she is really not tourist.

If they find this pattern, the extension may be rejected or future entries may be denied.

If extension is denied and if the person is still in US at that time, 10 year visa is void.
