Question about extension

Last time my mother had 6 months Visa and we extended her to stay for 1 year with us,she stayed with us to help me take care of my child as I was not feeling well, am sure we can not say this..Now if she goes for Visa interview and the officer asks her why she extended for 1 year what answer should she give? what will be the appropriate answer

She needs to go for visa interview as current visa is already expired.

Reason for extending tourist visa: more tourism.
